What is digitisation?
When collected data is converted into digital signals that a computer/information system can read. (Analogue > digital).
How does text become digitised?
Keyboard characters are transferred to the CPU as a series of binary signals. Most computers use the ASCII coding system to convert binary into the decimal equivalent to display the character.
How does audio become digitised?
Sound needs to be converted from its analog form using equipment like microphones and signal processors like amplifiers.
How does animation become digitised?
Animation is based on the concept of frames made up of graphics or images in sequence.
How does video become digitised?
Videos are captured by video cameras as a continuous shot rather than a number of shots as separate frames.
How does image become digitised?
Uploaded via a scanner or camera.

When the user has control of the content in a media product.
