- positive psychological capacities - confidence ( hope, optimism, resilience)
- moral reasoning capacities - deciding what is right and wrong, promoting justice, greater good of the organization or community
- critical life events- pos and neg, act as a catalyst for change, stimulate personal growth

- fulfills society’s need for trustworthy leadership
- provides guidelines for people to follow to become an authentic leader
- has a moral dimension
- everyone can learn to be authentic
