Q

Electrical resistance

A

look for areas with lowest resistance
- clean ear first; quiet room; test electrical strength first by placing the prob on the spinal cord point @ back of ear and increase current until slight stinging sensation occurs

Q

Electrical resistance considerations

A
  • colder weather causes greater resistance
  • age- younger pts have lower resistance
  • location- uterus, ub, li, esophagus, SJ, and endocrine have lower resistance and areas where overlying skin is soft have lower resistance (helix, tragus)
  • points probed for too long will have a decline in resistance

buttocks
28
medial 2/3 of the inferior antihelix crus
body ischium/sciatica
29
lower border of inferior antihelix crus, directly above SI
KD
30
Which point reinforces KD, promotes hearing, strengthens bones, fills marrow. Tx nephritis, lumbago, tinnitus, vertigo, hair loss, loose teeth, hypertrophy, cervical and lumbar vertebra, urogential disorders, gyno disorders, spermatorrhea, impotence
KD
31
at the junction of the terminal of the inferior antihelix crus and the medial aspect of the helix
Sympathetic
32
Which point is an anti spasmatic and analgesia, nourishes yin and supports yang. Internal organ pain, palps, spontaneous sweat, night sweats, function disorders of autonomous nervous system, angina, dysmenorrhea, asthma, digestive and circulatory disorders
Sympathetic
33
Tip of lower protuberance on border of tragus
Adrenal
34
Which point reduces heat and relieves pain, is anti spasmodic, expels wind. Control blood sugar, burn protein and fat and regulate blood pressure, Good for RA, mumps, cough, pruritis, dizziness, vertigo, asthma, common cold, malaria, mastitis, hyptoension, heat strong, etc.
Adrenal
35
on lower half of medial aspect of tragus, inferior to the throat point
internal nose
36
tip of anti tragus
soothing asthma/parotid
37
posterior superior corner of lateral aspect of anti tragus
Occiput
38
This point sedates, is analgesic, eases mind, removes wind. Disease of the nervous system, skin disease, syncope, occipital headache, insomnia, epilepsy, furuncle
Occiput
39
midway between antitragic apex and helix tragic notch
Brain
40
this point replenishes brain and eases mind. Helps with oligophrenia (incomplete development of intelligence), nocturnal enuresis, massive uterine bleeding, acute infantile convulsions, diabetes, auditory vertigo
Brain point
41
at the medial aspect of the anti tragus.
brain/subcortex
42
reinforces marrow, replenishes brain, relives pain, eases mind. Insomnia, dream disturbed sleep, painful diseases, mental retardation, asthma, vertigo and tinnitus due to kidney deficiency
brain/subcortex
43
inferior to inter tragic notch
antihypertensive point
44
at inter tragic notch
Endocrine
45
this point moves liver qi yu, regulates menses and activates blood circulation, expels pathogenic wind, reinforces lower jiao. For disorders of skin, impotence, irregular menses, dysmenorrhea, hypo/hyperthyroidism.
endocrine
46
lateral 1/3 of the triangular fossa, anterior to the bifurcating point between superior and inferior antihelix crus
Shenmen
47
this point sedates, eases the mind, relives pain, clears heat. Stress, anxiety, excessive sensitivity, insomnia, dream disturbed sleep, irritability, inflammation, asthma, cough, vertigo, etc. This is a sedative and analgesic point.
Shenmen
48
in the fossa and in the depression closest to the helix
Uterus point
49
superior lateral angle of triangular fossa
lower blood pressure
50
at the peripheral concha ridge
Liver
51
in the central depression of cavum conchae
HT
52

LU
53
inferior to LV, at the lateral and superior aspect of cavum concha and close to border of anti helix
spleen
54
superior to anti tragus
SJ
55
this point is in the center of the second section of the lobe and clears heart fire
Tongue
56
this point is inferior aspect of intertragic notch
