Auricular Acu Flashcards
Find points by
color changes, rashes, shape change, accumulations
Probing
using a blunt tip or head of a pin and lightly press against sire. Look for most tender spot. Prob with same pressure and same amount of time on all points
Electrical resistance
look for areas with lowest resistance
- clean ear first; quiet room; test electrical strength first by placing the prob on the spinal cord point @ back of ear and increase current until slight stinging sensation occurs
Electrical resistance considerations
- colder weather causes greater resistance
- age- younger pts have lower resistance
- location- uterus, ub, li, esophagus, SJ, and endocrine have lower resistance and areas where overlying skin is soft have lower resistance (helix, tragus)
- points probed for too long will have a decline in resistance
NADA
autonomic, shenmen, KD, LV, LU
Battlefield acu
point zero, shenmen, omega2, thalamus, cingulate gyrus
Diabetes
- Thirst
- hunger
- frequent urination
- endocrine, lu, thirst
- endocrine, st
- endocrine, KD,BL
Which point is long the crus of the helix?
Diaphragm
Which point is on the helix, level with the inferior crus of the antihelix
External Genitalia
Which point is located when the ear is bent forward toward tragus, at the tip of the fold on superior aspect of helix
Ear apex
Point fx: fever, inflammation, hypertension, revival from hepatic coma, or for analgesic or sedative effect. Use moxa for keratitis
Ear apex
at auricular tubercle
LV Yang
where the helix crus terminates
Cardiac orifice (harmonizes ST, replenish SP, reinforce MJ, calm mind)
where the helix crus disappears
Stomach
the middle 1/3 aspect of helix crus
SI
point between the SI and LI
appendix
medial 1/3 of superior aspect helix curs
LI
at the junction of the concha ridge and the root of the ascending helix
Point Zero
this point balances energy and hormones, moves qi and blood, homeostasis
Point Zero
at the top of the scapha
finger
on the scapha level with helix tragic notch
clavicle
interior tubercle
allergy point
between the elbow and clavicle on scapha level with the supra tragic notch.
shoulder
superior and lateral angle of superior antihelix crus
toe
supeiror and medial angle of superior antihelix crus
heel
inferior 1/3 of superior antihelix crus
hip
