generous love of others displayed through the virtues which gives people spiritual happiness

Strengths of Augustine
encourages humanity to take responsibility over actions
Understands and attempts to account for human emotions
Hobbes agree that people are selfish
Weaknesses of Augustine
Rousseau argued people good

Idea of loving God punishing people seems contradictory
