Audio Systems Applications Flashcards
1
Q
Music Reinforcement System
A
full bandwidth systems, capable of reproducing a wide frequency range with higher sound pressure levels
2
Q
Mix-Minus System
A
- large boardrooms, meeting rooms, or classrooms
- create a separate sound subsystem for each loudspeaker, or group of loudspeakers (called “loudspeaker zones”)
- The term “mix-minus” means that each subsystem mixes the microphone signals, minus the microphones closest to a group of loudspeakers
3
Q
Playback System
A
does not include microphones; it simply plays prerecorded material.
4
Q
Audioconferencing
A
- data may travel over ISDN, IP or POTS
- Part of the equipment included in audio conferencing will include either line or acoustic echo-cancellation technology. Larger systems may also include speech reinforcement and playback capabilities.
5
Q
Sound Masking Systems
A
Speech privacy system is a sound system that adds background noise to an environment to cover up human speech and prevent privacy issues.
6
Q
Pink Noise
A
- a signal that has equal amounts of noise in each octave
- Sounds Like Waves on a beach
7
Q
White Noise
A
- A random signal having equal intensity at different frequencies
- Hiss of a steam pipe
