Audio Effects Flashcards
What is an Equalizer?
Equalization means boosting or reducing (attenuating) the levels of various frequencies in a signal.
What is a compression?
Compression means reducing the dynamic range of a signal.
What is Expansion?
Expansion means increasing the dynamic range of a signal.
What is delay?
audio signal that is followed closely by a delayed repeat
What is reverb?
Reverb is short for reverberation, the effect of many sound reflections occurring in a very short space of time.
What is a chorus?
To make a signal sound like it was produced by multiple similar sources.
What is Phasing?
is a sweeping, whooshing effect often used in music. The effect is created by mixing the original signal with another version of itself
What is a filter?
Boosting or cutting frequencies
What is a noise gate?
A gate lowers the volume of a signal when it gets too quiet
to reduce hiss or unwanted noise in a signal.
What is side chain compression?
A sidechain allows a second signal to determine when the gate opens and closes.
