What are mircophones?
microphones accept sound input in analog forms and converts it into a digital representation which can be outfitted or accepted into a computer system via a sound pad.
What are voice recognition and response units?
These systems use a microphone to accept audio input which enters the system as spoken words and is converted into voice commands. These systems allow us to interact with devices via voice.
What are digital cameras?
Digital cameras capture images and sometimes store it in the memory of the camera
What are webcams?
Webcams are used as input devices into a computer system to capture image and video
What are sensors?
Sensors eliminate human input by automatically accepting data into a computer system and using software in order to manipulate the data.
What are biometric devices?
Biometric devices are input devices that use unique identifying human characteristics such as a fingerprint or facial recognition to enforce security
What is an output device?
An output device delivers information to the user
What is a monitor/VDU?
A monitor displays information as soft copy that can come out as still or moving images. The images on a VDU are made up of pixels which is the smallest unti on a screen. Pixels only come in 3 colors: red, green and blue. The clarity and sharpness of the image is measured by the resolution, the more pixels on the screen, the sharper the image therefore the resolution would be higher
What are flat panel display VDUs?
These monitors are physically smaller than CRTs and use a lot less energy and are safer to the user. They allow for images to have higher resolutions therefore better quality of image
What are the 3 main types of Flat panel display monitors
LCD (liquid crystal display)
LED (light emitting diode)
Plasma
What are projectors used for?
Projectors are used to deliver dynamic multimedia presentation and media. Projectors connect directly to computers or video cam recorders or media players and act as a monitor to these devices
