Why do atypicals have less side effects than typicals (EPS, tardive dyskinesia, NMS)

A

Serotonin normally inhibits dopamine transmission in the tracks besides mesolimbic
Serotonin blockage therefore increases dopamine in the mesocortical, tuberoinfundibular, and nigrostriatal tracts reducing negative symptoms, prolactin and EPS
