Marriage
Majority of Churches teach that marriage should take place only between a man and a woman.
The promises the couple make to one another are for life and shouldn’t be broken
Civil Partnerships
Catholics and Church of England are against civil partnerships and don’t perform them. Church of England Vicars are allowed to have civil partnerships, but must be celibate.
They think that accepting civil partnerships undermines marriage and gives a bad example to children, and means that homosexual sex is as acceptable as married heterosexual sex, which is unacceptable
Homosexual Clergy
Homosexual clergy believe that gay civil partnerships should be recognised
Members that are homosexual can marry elsewhere, but not in the Church
