Attention II Flashcards
1
Q
hemispatial neglect
A
- patient fails to acknowledge contralesional (opposite of lesion) stimuli; e.g. drawing a clock
- neglect exists as a gradient without a clear midline
2
Q
serial vs. parallel process theories
A
- serial: display size affects reaction time; we can’t attend to everything simultaneously
- parallel: display size doesn’t affect reaction time
- pop-out: no display size effect at all
3
Q
feature integration theory (FIT)
A
- object -> pre-attentive stage (features are separate) -> focused attention (features are filtered and in conjunction) -> perception
4
Q
central capacity vs. multiple resource models
A
- central capacity theory: limited resources, applied to multiple tasks
- multiple resource model: selective interference depending on the type of resource needed
