Secure Attachment
Attachment style where the infant feels safe and secure with their caregiver. They are comfortable exploring their environment knowing their caregiver is there for them.
insecure-avoidant attachment
Attachment style where the infant shows little emotion towards their caregiver. They may avoid contact and may not seek comfort when distressed.
insecure-resistant attachment
attachment style where the infant is clingy and dependent on their caregiver. They may resist exploration and become upset when separated from their caregiver.
Ainsworth
Strange Situation is a standardised procedure used to assess infant-caregiver attachment. It involves a series of separations and reunions between the infant and their caregiver.

Bowlby’s theory of maternal deprivation
