Mechanism of action
Inhibits the action of acetylcholine at postganglionic parasympathetic neuroeffector sites.
Increases heart rate in life-threatening bradydysrhythmias
Indications
Hemodynamics lily unstable bradycardia. Organophosphate poisoning. Nerve agent exposure. Rapid sequence intubation in pediatrics. Beta blocker or calcium channel blocker overdose.
Contraindications
Tachycardia, hypersensitivity.
Unstable cardiovascular status in acute hemorrhage w/ myocardial ischemia.
Narrow-angle glaucoma.
Hypothermic bradycardia
Adverse effects
Drowsiness, confusion, headache, Tachy, palpations, dysrhythmias, nausea and vomiting, pupil dilation, dry mouth/nose/skin, blurred vision.
Paradoxical bradycardia when pushed too slowly or when given at low doses

Dose and administration
Adult: unstable bradycardia 0.5mg IV/IO every 3-5 minutes as needed
