Atrial Tachycardia Flashcards
What does atrial tachycardia lead to?
Loss of atrial kick, reduced cardiac output, reduced coronary perfusion and ischaemic myocardial changes
What causes atrial tachycardia?
Can occur in normal hearts due to over stimulation of caffeine or drugs
Can be associated with primary and secondary cardiac problems: MI, cardiomyopathy, Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome
What rhythm has the rate is 150-250 bpm, P waves that are hard to see which are normally hidden in the T waves?
Atrial tachycardia
How do you treat atrial tachycardia?
Treatment depends on the type of tachycardia and severity of symptoms
Carefully monitor pts rhythm strip
What is atrial tachycardia?
Supra ventricular tachycardia that originated above the ventricle at the rate is 150-250 bpm
