Atrial natriuretic peptides Flashcards
1
Q
Atrial natriuretic peptides (ANP)
A
small peptides hormones released primarily by cardiac atria in response to increased atrial stretch (i.e. volume expansion)
2
Q
ANP MOA
A
binds to receptors in medullary CD and leads to increased intracellular cyclic GMP
3
Q
ANP results
A
Decreased Na reabsorption and thus increased solute excretion leads to increased water excretion
NO CHANGE in rate of K excretion!!!
