Atrial fibrillation and Deep vein thrombosis Flashcards
1
Q
what is the normal sinus rhythm of the heart
A
SA node generates at 60-100
2
Q
what are dysrythmias or arrythmias?
A
- abnormalities of electrical conduction which can effet heart rate or cardiac rythm
- dangerous when heart beats are to fast or to slow, generally less than 50 and greater then 100
3
Q
Risk factors for AFIB
A
-advanced age w valvular disase
-HTN
-CAD
-congenital disorder
_HF
-diabetes
-obesity
-hyperthyroidism
-pulmonary hypertension
-embolism
4
Q
Signs and Symptoms of A fib
A
- irregular pulse
- dizzy (lightheaded because decrease in bp)
- SOB
- fainting (decrease in BP)
- palpitations (usually described as skipped or extra beats)
- decreased BP if not compensating
5
Q
what are some nursing considerations for Atrial fibrillation
A
- bp, HR, RR, 02 sats
- drug to drug interaction
- electrolytes (k+, Na+, Ca++)
- hepatic/renal
- hx, heart failure
- monitor for signs and symptoms of clotts
6
Q
Diagnostics for Afib
A
- ECG (primary)
- hotler monitor
7
Q
interventions when someone is in A fib
A
- spontaneous conversion
- Cardioversion (convert into normal sinus rythm)
- pharmacology
8
Q
pharmacology for A-fib
A
- beta blockers: metoprolol (decrease hr give heart more filling time to increase CO)
- antiarrythmic: Digoxin, (increase force of myocardial contraction Increase CO)
- anticoagulants: warfarin, heparin, dalteparin
