Atmosphere Flashcards
Why would it be impossible to live on earth without the atmosphere?
The atmosphere forms a layer, like a blanket around the Earth, protecting us from dangerous rays from the sun and from the cold of the outer space.
How are clouds formed?
By joining together of water vapour
Why should mountaineers take oxygen cylinders with them when they climb high mountains?
The air becomes thinner as you go up a mountain, so they would need extra oxygen
What are the layers of the atmosphere?
Troposphere Stratosphere Mesosphere Thermosphere Exosphere
Which layer is immediately above the Earth?
Troposphere
Which layer is responsible for weather changes?
Troposphere
Which layer do planes go?
Stratosphere. Because it is very calm.
In which layer does meteors burn up?
Mesosphere
In which layer is ozone seen?
Stratosphere
Why do you need ozone layer?
Ozone is a gas that absorbs ultraviolet rays from the sun.
What will happen if ozone layer is damaged?
If ozone layer is reduced, harmful UV rays cannot be prevented from hitting earth and so will cause damage to living creatures.
How is ozone layer being damaged now?
Because of pollution and some chemicals.
Which gas is seen in the atmosphere of Neptune?
Methane
