Atmosphere Flashcards

Q
Explain the movement of air through different types of cells
A
- Cold air sinks and travels to equator, travels from high pressure to low pressure. Hadley cell is closest to equator and has a low albedo.
- Air rises to atmosphere. Cold air displaces warm air as cold air is denser. Warm air rises because it’s lighter and has low pressure.
- Cold air sinks because it is high pressure, and heavier, moving to low pressure.
- Travels back to equator where it will repeat Hadley cell or move to Ferrell, then Polar cell. Talk about two other cells
