LEMON Assessment for Intubation
A
- Look Externally ( small mouth or jaw, overbite, facial trauma)
- Evaluate 3-3-2 rule (incisors 3 fingers, hyoid-chin 3 fingers, thyroid-floor of mouth 2 fingers)
- Mallampati
- Obstruction
- Neck Mobility (if no C-spine trauma)

Indications for definitive Airway
A
Airway protection:
- Maxillofacial fractures (severe)
- Neck injury (hematoma, laryngeal or tracheal injury, inhalation injury, stridor / voice change)
- Head injury (unconcious, combative)
Oxygenation (Inadequate respiratory efforts)
- Initially Tachypnea, hypoxia, hypercarbia, cyanosis, combativeness)
- Progressive change, accessory uscle use, resp muscle paralysis, abdominal breathing
- Acute neurological deterioration or herniation
- Apnea from loss of conciousness or neuromuscl. paralysis
