What does an atlas contain
1) Physical map - showing the height
And shape of the land surface
2) Political map - displays information on boundaries and the main towns and cities of countries
How do we find out where places are
To help find where places are we use lines called latitude and longitude are drawn on to maps and globes
What are lines of latitude
Latitude lines run from East to West around the globe and tell you distance North or South of the equator
What are lines of longitude
Longitude lines run from pole to pole around the globe and tell you your distance East or West from the Prime Meridian
What does G.I.S. stand for
Geographical Information System
Give the longitude and latitude lines
