cerebral angiogram
A
- dye is injected usually via groin or neck into the arteries to visualize the vasculature of the brain
- assess for iodine/shellfish allergy

ICP Monitoring
A
normal ICP is 10-15 mm Hg
ICP = severe headache, decrease LoC, restlessness, irritability, dilated/pinpoint pupils, slowness to react, alteration in breathing pattern (Cheyn Stoke respirations, apnea, hyperventilation) abnormal posturing

lumbar puncture
A
CSF withdrawn form spinal canal either
- b/c small amount to test
- to decrease ICP
- while undergoing procedure put in cannonball position
- prone position can relieve headache following puncture

PET/SPECT scans
A
caution in patients with DM as a glucose-based tracer is injected into the blood stream

A
- stay awake for most of night to trigger symptoms
- wash hair
