What is a pulse deficit?
A difference greater than 2/min between Apical and Radial pulses
What are S1 and S2 sounds?
S1 is the low pitched (lub) when tricuspid and mitral valves close as ventricular filling ends.
S2 is the high pitched (dub) when pulmonic and aortic valves close at the end of ventricular ejection.
When should I expect alterations in apical pulses?
Heart disease, dysrhythmias, sudden chest pain, internal/external bleeding
How do ventilation, diffusion, and perfusion differ?
Ventilation is the mechanical movement of gases into/out of the lungs
Diffusion is the movement of O2 and CO2 between alveoli and RBC
Perfusion is blood distribution to and from blood-gas barrier
What drop in mmHg is orthostatic hypotension?
15 mmHg
What is hypertension in mmHg?
