Asymmetric - Control Problems Flashcards
1
Q
What’s VMC?
A
Minimum CAS at which the pilot can maintain heading within 20º using no more than 5º of bank and with the live engine(s) at maximum available take-off power
2
Q
What’s Vmcl?
A
Minimum control speed in the landing configuration: defined as the minimum CAS at which, with the aircraft in the most critical landing configuration, AFTER failure of the critical engine, and WITH the remaining engin(s) at maximum available go-around power, the pilot can:
- Maintain straight flight and:
- Roll the aircraft away from the failed engine through 20º in 5 seconds
There is also a requrement that, with power reduced to that sufficient to maintain a 5% descent slope, the 20º roll test is carried out in 3.5 seconds
