7
Q

why does a comet have an elliptical orbit

A

Comets are located in the Oort cloud and when another star passes by it is affected by the gravity and moves towards our sun. The comet gains speed as it gets closer to the sun so that it can stay on its path. The comet slows down again as it moves away from the sun creating an elliptical orbit
