Asthma Inhaler Instructions

Question 1

MDI

Answer 1

1- Remove the cap from the inhaler
2- Shake the inhaler well for 5 seconds
3- Hold the inhaler firmly by placing index finger on top of the canister and thumb on the bottom of mouthpiece
4- Sit up straight or stand up
5-tilt head back slights
6-exhale away from inhaler
7-put the inhaler in mouth , press inhaler and take a slow and deep breath
8-hold your breath for 10 seconds, exhale slowly through mouth or nose

repeat after 30 seconds if another dose is required

Answer 2

1- check dose counter to see how many doses are remaining
2-open inhaler until you hear a click- hold inhaler horizontally slide lever from left to right.
3- place mouthpiece in your mouth, take a quick and deep breath
4-hold breath for 10 seconds. exhale slowly through your mouth and nose

repeat after 30 seconds if another dose is required

HandiHaler

Answer 3

1- Open dust cap by pulling upward
2-Open mouth piece
3- Insert capsule into center chamber
4- close the mouth piece firmly until you hear a click
leave the dust cap open
5- Press the piercing button once
6- Exhale away from the inhaler
7- hold the Handihaler horizontally, keep mouth piece in mouth, take a quick and deep breath
8- Hold breath for 10 seconds, exhale slowly through mouth or nose
9-Breathe in through the mouthpiece again, ensure that you get complete dose
10- remove capsule and dispose
11- close mouthpiece and dust cap to store the inhaler

Twisthaler

Answer 4

1- Hold the twisthaler straight up, rotate the cap in counterclockwise direction to open it
2-Lift the cap to load the dose
3- Make sure the indented arrow located directly above the base is in line with the dose counter
4- Exhale away from inhaler
5- keep the twisthaler in mouth horizontally, take a quick and deep breath
6- hold breath for 10 seconds, exhale slowly through mouth or nose
7- Immediately put the cap back. rotate in clockwise direction and gently press down
8- make sure the grooves in line with dose counter window

repeat steps after 30 seconds if another dose is required

Autohaler

Answer 5

1- take off the cap from the mouthpiece
2-shake the autohaler well
3- hold upright and push the lever up until it clicks
4-exhale away from inhaler
5- keep autohaler in mouth, take a slow and deep break until it clicks. finish taking full breath
6- hold breath for 10 seconds, exhale slowly through mouth or nose
7- press lever down

repeat steps after 30 seconds if another dose is required

Aerolizer

Answer 6

1- Remove aerolizer cover
2-hold the base of aerolizer firmly, rotate the mouthpiece in direction of the arrow to open it
3-insert capsule in base chamber
4- rotate mouthpiece to close it
5- press both buttons once until you hear a click
6- hold inhaler mouthpiece horizontally -buttons should be on left and right side
7-exhale away from the inhaler
8- keep mouthpiece and take a quick and deep breath - capsule will vibrate
9- hold your breath for 10 seconds, exhale slowly through mouth and nose
10- take another breath through mouthpiece to ensure complete dose
11- open mouth piece and remove and discard capsule
12- close inhaler

Flexhaler

Answer 7

1- remove the cap 
2- rotate the base 
3- rotate the base  again 
4- exhale away from inhaler
5- take a quick and deep breath 
6- hold breathholfor 10 seconds and exhale slowly through mouth and nose. 

repeat steps after 30 seconds if you need another dose
close the cap

Neohaler

Answer 8

1-open cap from neohaler
2- hold the base firmly, tilt mouthpiece to open
3-insert the capsule in the base chamber of neohaler
4- close mouthpiece until click
5-hold neohaler straight up, press both sides and leave
6-exhale away from inhaler
7-keep inhaler in mouth and take quick and deep breath
8-hold breath for 1- seconds, exhale slowly through mouth or nose
9 -take another breath through mouthpiece, ensures that you get the full dose of medicine
10-discard capsule, close mouthpiece and cover the inhaler

Answer 9

1- hold respimat straight up
2- turn transparent base in direction or arrow
3- open cap
4-sit straight or stand up
5-tilt head back slightly
6-exhale away from inhaler
7-keep respimat in mouth take slow and deep breath and press dose dispensing button at same time
8-hold breath for 10 seconds, exhale slowly through mouth and nose
9-close the inhaler

Question 10

Pressair

Answer 10

1-remove protective cap from pressair
2- hold pressair with mouthpiece facing you, gren button should face upwards
3-press down button for once, release it
4-check control window, strip should change from red to green. if color strip is still red press button one more time and release
5- breathe out, away from inhaler
6-keep pressair mouthpiece in the mouth, seal lips tightly around. you’ll hear a click when medication is released-continue until you take a full breath
7- hold your breath for 10 seconds, breathe out slowly through the nose
8- check control window, the strip should change from green to red. if the strip is still green repeat steps to take the dose
9- close cap of the inhaler

Turbuhaler

Answer 11

1- hold turbuhaler straight up, rotate cover and remove
2-rotate the brown grip in one direction and rotate back in the ohter direction
3- exhale away from the inhaler
5- hold turbuhaler in horiontal position, keep in mouth and take quick and deep breath
6-hold breath for 1- seconds, exhale slowly through mouth and nose

step 7- repeat steps after 30 seconds if you need another dose

step 8-close cap

1- check dose counter to see number of doses remaining
2-slide open the mouthpiece cover, you will hear a click
3-breathe out away from inhaler
4-place mouthpiece in mouth, take quickened deep breath
5-hold breath 4 seconds, exhale slowly though mouth and nose
6-slide back cover to close mouthpiece
