Associative Learning is the more common way that animals learn.
How do animals form a learned association?
Animal forms a learned associations between 2 features or events.
What is an EXAMPLE of associative learning?
Ex:
A pan dropping in the kitchen scares a cat. It may or may not form an association btwn the fear it experiences and the place in which it is experienced.
What two factors is the development of an association dependant on?
It depends on contiguity and contingency.
What is contiguity?
Contiguity is a relationship btwn 2 events in both time and place.
What is contingency?
Contingency is the predictability of association.
The association the animal makes is dependant on what?
It depends on a variety of individual factors such as individual tempermant and prior experiences.
