What is the nucleus?
Controls all the activties of the cell and is surronded by the nuclear membrane. (It contains gense on the chromosomes)
What is cytoplasm.
It is liquid gel in which where mosr chemical reacrions needed for life to take place.
What is cell membrane?
It controls the passge of subtance such as glucose and ineral ions into the cell (it controls what goes in and out)
What is mitochondria?
Structures in the cytoplasm where relasing energy is from.
What is a ribosome?
When protien synthesis happens
What is diffusions?
This is when a particle of a gas or of any substane that is a solute. This means the net movement moves from higher concentration to lower concentration.
What is the equation for the rate of diffusion?
Net movement = particle moving in - particals moving out
Where does diffusion happen in living organisms?
This happens in the cell membrane.
A DILUTE soloution of sugar contains a high concentration of water ( the solvent) high concentration of water low concentration of sugar

A CONCENTRATED sugar solution contains a relatively low concentration of water and a high concentration of sugar

What is osmoses?
This is when water particles moves across a partially premeable membrane from a dilute solution to a concentration solution.
Istonic- When their is the same amount of concentration solutes in the solution outside and the internal concentration of the cell
Hupertonic-when the solutes in the solution outside the cell is higher thsnnthe inner concentration
Hypotonic- this is when solutes in the solution is lower thsnnthe internal concentration.

What is active transport?
This is when sometimes the substance needed by a cell has to be moved agianst a concentration gradien, across a psrtislly permeable membrane
An egg and sperm cell fuse to form a ZYGOTE.
