If a client is referred to address driving safety, what assessments ought to be used?
Both standardized and descriptive assessments to shed light on pt’s performance & function.
An interview will provide additional information directly from the client.
Standardized Assessments
- Administered & scored universally the same.
- Allows for equal & unbiased opportunities.
Descriptive Assessments
- A type of standardized assessment
- Assesses specific client characteristics
- Provides details regarding functional performance
Interview
- Non-standardized
- Allows for variable questions
Role Participation Assessments
- Evaluate performance patterns, specifically role performance
- May have structured questions to address role performance
Allen Cognitive Level Screen
- Brief screening to determine cognitive functioning, capacity to learn, ability to problem solve & follow directions.
- Specific to adults or cognitive impairment following a brain injury or dementia.
- Quick measure of learning potential, global cognitive processing, & performance abilities.
Beck Anxiety Inventory
For ages 17-80.
- Measures anxiety’s impact on occupational performance.
- Self-report.
Revised Children’s Manifest Scale
For ages 6-19
- Measures sensory processing patterns, modulation, & behavioral-emotional responses that support or interfere with function.
- Uses an observation-based or self-report questionnaire & rating scale.
