Assessment/ROM Flashcards
Goals of flexibility assessments
Identify joint deficiencies and bilateral ROM discrepencies thru comparison in order to create needs analysis when developing programming
Shoulder Flexion Assessment
Assesses: Lat dorsi and shoulder capsule
One arm at a time, have client raise harm anterior through transverse plane to 180 degrees with arm fully extended above head. Look for any shifting or pronating during or comparitive differences of both right and left sides.
Shoulder Abduction Assessment
Assessment of: Teres Minor and Pec Major
One at a time, begin by having client rotate hand laterally and abduct arm through lateral raise of motion to 180 degrees when arm should be fully extended above head. Note deficiency if unable to fully extend and move arm <180 degrees
Shoulder Rotator Assessment
Assessment of: Subscapularis, infraspinatus, and teres minor
Fingerti[p contact test behind back with elbow flexion of 90 degrees-fingertips should touch.
Note results where client is unable to have contact between finger tips
What are the three components of the shoulder range of motion tests?
F.A.R.
Flexion
Abduction
Rotator
Lateral Trunk Flexion Assessment
Assessment of: Int/ext obliques and quadriceps laborem
administer having client standing in anatomical position and flex from trunk laterally (right or left). Normal range of motion is observed when hand is able to align with the lateral side of respective knee. Results abnormal if unable to bring hand down to knee
