assessment 1 Flashcards
define skill
a learned action/behaviour w intention of bringing pre determined results w maximum certainty and minimum outlay of time + energy
define ability
persons set of traits that control their potential to learn a skill
define the term “open skill”
skill performed in certain way to deal w changing/unstable environments
give one example of an open skill
netball passes as u have to adjust movement depending on environment
define the term closed skill
not affected by environment or performers within it. A skill that tends to be done the same way each time
define term “self-paced” skill give an example
started when performer decides to start it/the speed, rate or pace of skill is controlled by performed
e.g. javelin throw
define the term externally paced skill and give an example
starts because of an external factor/the speed rate or pace of skill is controlled by external factors
e.g. sprint starts
define the term basic skill
give example
very few decisions to be made or actually affect the success or the movement so they’re learned very quickly/require low level of coordination + concentration e,g, jogging
define term complex skill and give an example
lots of decisions to be made in order to be successful + require high level of coordination + concentration to complete
e.g. performing high jump. playing a cover drive in cricket
define the term gross skill
big movements of the body, involves large muscle groups/movements when running + dont tend to rely on accuracy and precision
define the term fine skill and give example
small movements of the body it involves use of small muscle groups to carry out precise movements that require accuracy and coordiantion
e.g. badminton backhand flick serve
what is performance goal and why do performers set it for themselves
improving own performance/no social comparison its used to improve + provide motivation and help performers prepare mentally and physically
whats an outcome goal
focuses on outcome like winning
what does SMART stand for
Specific
Measurable
Agreed
Realistic
Time-bound
what r the 4 stages of basic information processing
input, decision making, output, feedback
what r the 4 types of guidance
visual, manual, verbal, mechanical
what is visual guidance
guidance that a player can see/look at
what is it meant by manual guidance give example
physically moving e.g. supporting a tuck somersault in gymnastics
what is mechanical guidance and whys it useful
using mechanical aids to support participants they aid the performer to understand the feel of the movement
