3 biggest risk factors for dissection events
1) Current or past smoker

HTN stage 1,
HTN stage 2,
HTN crisis
Normal <120/ <80
Elevated 120-129/ x<80
HTN stage 1- 130-139/ 80-89
HTN stage 2 140-159/ 90-119
HTN crisis- 180+/120+
How to perform BP screening
Seated in chair with back rest
Both feet on ground
Correct cuff size
arm at level of heart
no talking
Not through clothing (thick)
How to manage HTN
x<139/89
If diagnosed inform pt and document
How to manage 140-179/ 90-109- w/o symptoms and with symptoms
No symptoms- wait 5 mins and recheck- inform pt of reading, ask about meds, document check next visit- if elevated contact PCP
with symptoms- inform pt, ask about meds, contact PCP, obtain medical clearance and document
with HTN- 180+/110+ with no symptoms. And with symptoms
No symptoms- wait 5 mins and recheck- inform pt, medical compliance, contact physician and physician gives word
With symptoms- tell Pt, medical compliance, contact physician- physician determines steps if not severe. If cannot contact- call EMS
HR- normal, tachycardia, ventricular tachycardia, bradycardia
Normal- 60-100
Tachycardia- over 100
V-tach- x>150- means going so fast ventricles not refilling properly
Bradycardia- x<60
SpO2- what is normal
94 or greater
