Week 3- Building the body chart Flashcards
Lateral reasoning
hypothesis generation in parallel with another. problem solving using an indirect, creative approach
ex of lateral reasoning neck vs shoulder
Is comparing the 2 diagnoses and seeing what is more likely based on signs and symptoms
TYpe 1 reasoning vs Type 2 reasoning
Type 1- pattern recognition- used by experts but more likely to make bias and errors
Type 2- analytical and deductive reasoning
cloward’s sign
referred pain from the cervical spine radiating down the border of the scapula
pain often from sustained flexion
Maigne Syndrome
Signs-
Low back pain arising from TL junction. Commonly goes to low back, lateral hip and even groin
Signs- TTP with CPA and ilian crest point test- positive skin rolling test
How to do location on the body charts
number in order and checks where it is clear and then describe symptoms
lateral reasoning and differentials
go by body region and list all differentials- musculoskeletal and visceral
Type 1 vs type 2 thinking with differentials
Type 2 listing differentials then thinking how to prove them
