Assesment 1 Flashcards
What are the features of living things?
Movement respiration, sensitivity, growth, reproduction, extraction, and nutrition
What is movement
Movement is an action by an organism, causing a change of positional. It helps the effective functioning of digestion, metabolism and immune response.
What is respiration?
The process during which nutrients are broken down to release energy after chemical reactions
There are two types of respiration, aerobic, respiration, and anaerobic respiration
What are the two forms of respiration?
Aerobic
Uses oxygen
Releases more energy
Anaerobic
Does not use oxygen
Releases less energy
What is sensitivity?
The ability of a living thing to detect changes in its internal external environment
The two forms of stimuli and response
What is stimuli and what is response?
Stimuli is approaching a predator which least increasing body temperature
Response is running away or hiding, and it regulates body temperature
What is nutrition?
Intake of substances that will provide the living organisms with energy to help grow and develop
What is growth?
Presses during wishing organisms changes in size and form
What is excretion?
Extraction of the process by which the body removes toxic material, metabolic waste products and excess material
The skin excess water, and salts in sweat
The lungs, exhale, water, vapor, and carbon dioxide
What is reproduction?
The process of making more individuals of the same kind
What is classification?
The process of grouping organisms based on observable characteristics
What are the five kingdoms?
Prokaryotes
Plants
Fungi
Animals
Protocistans
What are the seven levels of each kingdom?
Kingdom
Phylum
Class
Order
Family
Genius
Species
What is protein structure?
Large complex molecules, which have specific roles in the body
They are made up of smaller units called amino acids
Viruses
Cyrus says, do not fit in the five kingdom, because they do not show all the characteristics
There are a cellular organisms
They do not carry out respiration, nutrition, and reproduction, despite them containing genetic material
They need hostels for many functions
