Three types of ‘The’ in Culture
The What
The How
The Why
This contains the actions, artifacts, language, and behaviour that characterize a given culture.
The What
This identifies the processes that guarantee the transmission and dissemination of the contents.
The How
This pinpoints the reason why individuals comply and the mechanisms that facilitate the performance of expected behaviour.
The Why
It’s a social science that deals with human Interactions in formal and informal settings, provides the necessary momentum to complete the culture picture.
Sociology
It refers to the gradual acquisition of the characteristics and norms of a culture or group by a person, another culture, etc.
Enculturation
It is a good example of enculturation. The shock created by their birth culture is a product of their enculturation in the second culture
Culture Shock
He is an English anthropologist, was the first to coin the term ‘culture’ in the eighteenth century.
E.B. Taylor
They define it in this sence: “A culture is a historically derived system of explicit and implicit designs for living, which tends to be shared by all or specifically designed members of a group.”
Kluckhohn and Kelly
This culture refers to similarities in wards and actions which can be directly observed.
Explicit Culture
This culture exists in abstract forms which are not quite obvious.
