explain the 7 selection methods

A

application forms: read about the candidate via resume

phycological testing: practical test, to assess intelligence or ability. attempts to reveal aspects of a person’s character that may affect their ability to perform the work.

work testing: more closely related to the actual job and may seek to test specific skills needed to carry out the relevant work.

interviews: A well-organized, structured meeting where common questions are asked to compare interviewees.

online selection: may involve completing a multiple-choice test online or providing other information online.

background check: employer will contact referees/references in order to check the candidates’ credentials or check social media accounts.

medical: medical check is required for some jobs. Or alternatively a fitness test is appropriate for some careers – Police/Army etc.

explain the methods of induction?

A

E-learning: information delivered electronically via a computer or other digital device.

on-the-job training: hands-on method where employees develop their knowledge and skills within the workplace.

mentoring: involves a senior employee assisting a new employee in developing the knowledge and skills needed for their role.

induction pack: physical or electronic folder containing information for new employees.

meeting with key staff members: involve the new employee and other staff members in the business coming together during the induction process.

what are national employment standards?
list some national employment standards

A

The National Employment Standards (NES) are the employment entitlements that have to be provided to all employees.

annual leave (certain amount of time a year certain employees get off - causal workers don’t get this)

compassionate leave (given to a person when someone in their family has a life-threatening injury, dies, miscarriage, or born baby).

personal and careers leave (used when worker is sick or injured, has a household member that needs taken care of or in an emergency. entitled to 10 days for full time, entitled to a part of that depending on hours if half time).

community service leave (time taken for duty hours which is paid, or time taken to help in emergency or natural disaster which is only allowed to do that if part of a community service body ex: RSPCA etc.).

public holiday leave (leave on public holiday. paid for full and part time if worked usually on that specific day, unpaid for causal unless they volunteer to work on a public holiday)

maximum weekly hours (can’t be asked to work over 38 hours)

Employer expectations are the standards, behaviors, and performance levels that employers expect from their employees.

contracts of employment -An employment contract is a formal, legal agreement that outlines the terms and conditions under which an employee will work. It serves as a guide for resolving conflicts and clarifying duties and expectations.

loyalty - Loyalty refers to an employee’s commitment to the organization’s goals, values, and mission and willingness to contribute positively to its success.

work-life balance - is the seperation beween work responsibilities and personal life. Involved handling work requirements along with family and personal commitments
