- largest population in the US in the first half of 20th century

-most come as political refugee Before the war: •educated • escaping persecution After the war: •unskilled •escaping aftermath

- highly educated
- come as students then stay

Most live in urban areas such as LA and San fran

High representation in professional jobs and under represented in management
