When you use chopsticks what should you NEVER do?
Never pass food from chopstick to chopstick (that would be like passing food from your fork to someone else…yuck!)
Never stick your chopsticks directly in your food - use the side of your plate or chopstick holder
Do not stick your chopsticks straight up in your food (in some cultures, that represents death / bad luck)
Do not stab your food, move bowls around with them, or move your chopsticks over dishes
Hold them the correct way
What is Elevation?
Elevation is how far from something above or below sea level.
What are tectonic plates?
Tectonic plates are pieces of the earth’s crust that are always moving and cause earthquakes, the formation of mountains, and the formation of trenches/ valleys as well as other land forms.
What is a topographic map?
A map that shows the elevation of a small area from a bird’s eye view using circles
What is a physical map?
A map that shows the elevation of a general area using colors.
What is human footprint?
Negative impact of humans on the environment
What is government?
a system that sets up and enforces a society’s laws and institutions.
What is direct democracy?
Direct Democracy = all people get to debate and vote on every issue
What is representative democracy?
Representative Democracy = people vote for someone who represents their ideas/beliefs, and they make decisions based on that
What is a constituent?
A voter
What is a coup?
A violent overthrow of the previous leader.
What is the DMZ?
The DMZ is the most heavily guarded border in the world. It is between North and South Korea.
What are the four main islands of Japan?
Hokkaido, Honshu, Kyushu, Shikoku.
Why do earthquakes happen?
When two plates shift next to each other = earthquake occurs
How are mountains formed?
When two plates come together = mountains are formed
