ASIA Flashcards
ASIA A
complete: no sensory or motor function is preserved in sacral segments S4-S5
ASIA B
sensory incomplete: no motor function is preserved, but sensory is preserved below the neuro level and in sacral segments S4-5
ASIA C
motor incomplete: motor and sensory is preserved below the neuro level with most key muscles <3/5
ASIA D
motor incomplete: motor and sensory is preserved below the nerd level w/ most key muscles > or equal to 3/5
ASIA E
normal: sensory and motor functions are normal
motor level classification
determined by most caudal key muscle that has strength of normal or 5/5
motor index scoring
test each key muscle using 0-5 scoring w/ 25 pts per extremity and total score of 100
sensory level
determined by most caudal level dermatome the has normal score of 2/2 for pinprick and light touch
C5 key muscle
elbow flexors (biceps, brachial)
C6 key muscle
wrist extensors (Extensor carpi radialis longus and brevis)
C7 key muscle
elbow extensors (triceps)
C8 key muscle
finger flexors (flexor digitorum profundus) to the middle finger
