Ascending tracts Flashcards
What sensation is carried in the dorsal column pathway?
fine touch, pressure, vibration (steretogenesis)
What modality goes through DCML pathway?
Sensory
Does sensation from the legs travel through faciculus gracillis or cuneatus
Faciculus gracillis
Does sensation from the arms travel through faciculus gracillis or cuneatus
faciculus cuneatus
Where do the fibres decussate?
medulla (pyramids)
What side is the information interpreted by?
contralateral side
What sensation does the anterior spinothalamic tract convey?
pain and temp
What sensation does the lateral spinothalamic tract convey?
crude touch and pressure
Does the anterior spinothalamic tract decussate at the level of the cord or the medulla?
At the cord (but goes up a couple of segments first)
Does the lateral spinothalamic tract decussate at the level of the cord or the medulla?
At the cord - decussates immediately
What leminiscus does the anterior spinothalamic tract travel up in after descussating
medial leminiscus
What leminiscus does the lateral spinothalamic tract travel up in after descussating
spinal leminiscus
what does the spinocerebellar pathway carry?
proprioceptive info to cerebellum to coordinate posture and movement of limbs
What does the dorsal/ posterior spinocerebellar pathway carry?
lower limb proprioception
What does the cuneocerebellar spinocerebellar pathway carry?
upper limb propioception
