AS: Movement Analysis (Technology) Flashcards
What are the 3 types of movement analysis we have looked at?
Limb kinematics
Force plates
Wind tunnels
Definition of limb kinematics:
Study of movement in relation to time and space
Definition of force plates:
Ground reaction forces are measured in labs using force plates
Definition of wind tunnels:
Steel frame building where artificial wind is produced by fans
Use of limb kinematics
Sensors placed on limbs to analyse movement and evaluate efficiency of the movement through computer programming
Use of force plates
Can analyse the force produced in a run/jump by an athlete, as well as looking at technique and power output
Also used in therapy and rehab
Use of wind tunnels
Can test for aerodynamic properties in different environmental conditions
Can also potentially increase lift or reduce drag
Practical examples for limb kinematics use:
Computer games (2K, FIFA) Golf swings
Practical examples for force plates use:
Long jump
Practical examples for wind tunnels use:
Sprinting
