Indications for ARVs
A
• To treat HIV positive people – Goals:
• Suppress viral replication-immune recovery
• Decrease morbidity and mortality
• improve quality of life
• To prevent transmission of HIV – Sexualexposure
• PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis)
• PEP (post-exposure prophylaxis)
• Treatment HIV positive partner in sero-discordant relationship
– Occupational exposure- PEP – From mother to child
