What makes up the laryngeal part of the vocal tract?
The larynx and the vocal cords and glottis
What components make up the sub-laryngeal tract?
The lungs and the trachea
What makes up the supra-laryngeal part?
The epiglottis, the pharynx and the oral and nasal cavities
What happens to the intercostal muscles and diaphragm in inhalation?
They move upwards and outwards. The diaphragm moves downwards.
What I are the cartilages in the larynx called ?
Thyroid, arytenoid, cricoid
What auditory effects are the vocal folds responsible for?
Voicing, pitch, glottal stop, glottal friction and voice qualities such as whispering and making creaky voices.
What is the valve in the nasal cavity called?
Velopharyngeal port
