What are some benefits of the Articles of Confederation?
-Northwest Ordinance allowed to get land by cultivating it, making the US
-excellent for people that love states rights because it gives more liberty to each states to make their own decisions
-people did not have to pay taxes
What are some disadvantages of the Articles of Confederation?
-bad for Native Americans because the Northwest Ordinance took away their land
-not many decisions can be made because the federal government is weak and 9/13 states had to agree on things
-no taxes= no money for the country to functions (no money for the veterans, no way to pay war debts, no money to pay for roads or things the community needs)
What are some benefits of the US Constitution?
-strong federal government allows the government to be make more decisions that could benefit the country
-with taxes, the government can pay off war debts, pay veterans for their services, fix roads, and other things
-the US Constitution allowed states to have rights
-executive, judicial, and legislative branches prevented the government from becoming too strong
What are some disadvantages of the US Constitution?
-the federal government could become too strong (solution: Bill of Rights was added to ensure people rights the government cannot take away)
-people do not like paying taxes
-states are forced to follow the federal government laws even if they do not like them
-introduced a new form of government so people weren’t sure if it would work out
