Arteries of Shoulder and Arm Flashcards
1
subclavian artery
2
suprascapular artery
origin: thyrocervical trunk
3
axillary artery
4
thoraco-acromial artery
origin: second part of axillary artery
course: curls around the superomedial border of the pectoralis minor
5 and 6
- posterior circumflex humeral artery
- anterior circumflex humeral artery
origin: third part of axillary artery
course: encircles surgical neck of humerus, anastomosing with each other laterally; larger posterior branch transverses quadrangular space
7
subscapular artery
origin: third part of axillary artery
course: descends from level of inferior border of subscapularis along lateral border of scapula;
divides into terminal branches (circumflex scapular and thoracodorsal arteries)
8
brachial artery
9
profunda brachii artery (deep artery of arm)
origin: brachial artery
10
lateral thoracic artery
origin: the second part of the axillary artery
course: descends along the axillary border of the pectoralis minor, follows it onto thoracic wall
supplies: lateral aspect of the breast
11
superior and inferior ulnar collateral arteries
origin: brachial artery
12
inferior thyroid artery
13
thyrocervical trunk
origin: anterior surface of first part of the subclavian artery
course: gives rise to two branches (inferior thyroid and cervicodorsal trunk - arising from the thoracodorsal trunk are the suprascapular and dorsal scapular arteries)
14
vertebral artery
15
right and left common carotid arteries
16
brachiocephalic trunk
