can block flow of blood to affected area- causing ischaemia

in antiphospholipid syndrome
polycythaemia vera due to hyperviscosity
hyperosmolar hyperglycaemic state
What are some common symptoms of arterial thrombosis
sudden pain in chest,arm or leg
SOB
dizziness
numbness/tingling in face, arm or leg
vision problems
seizures
What investigations are required
depends on location and severity
-Duplex US
Angiography
CT scan
ECG
Blood tests
What is the management of arterial thrombosis
depends on location of clot and severity of symptoms
Treatment may include-
thrombolytic therapy
anticoagulant therapy
surgical intervention
What are some risk factors for arterial thrombosis
smoking
diabetes
HTN
high cholesterol
obesity
unbalanced diet
older age
family history
