factors to consider in description
title of the artwork, name of artist, time and place it was created, media being used, primary subject in the piece, elements of art in the piece
what are the elements of art?
line, color, shape, form, value, space, texture
extension of a point, short or long mark drawn or carved on the surface; can be defined differently in other forms of art
line
degree of lightness and darkness of color, can be defined differently in other forms of art
value
the sensation created by visible wavelengths of light caught in a prism; creates mood or tone and it conveys emotions and feelings.
color
emptiness part in an artwork which can be either positive or negative
space
space can be referred to as —— in other art forms

surface of the artwork; it can really be felt by touch or it can be simulated or illusory.
texture
created when a line becomes connected and encloses space. It can either be geometric or organic

proportion
combination of the elements of art that are repeated but with variations. It is a flow, or feeling of organized movement.
rhythm
pertains to the assortment or diversity of a work of art.
variety
a feeling of harmony between all parts of the work of art creates a sense of completeness.
unity
