Arrival and Approach Procedures Flashcards
The minimum/optimum descent gradient for a NPA with FAF -
The maximum -
- 2%
- 5% for CAT A & B
- 1% for CAT C, D and E
The minimum/maximum descent rates for a NPA without FAF:
A and B 394ft/min and 655ft/min
C, D and E: 590ft/min 1 000ft/min
The MOC(distance between the obstacle and the OCA/H) provided for the:
- Arrival
- Initial
- Intermediate
- Final
- Missed
- MSA(300m/1000ft) 25nm radius around the fix
- at least 300m/1000ft
- reducing from 300m to 150m
- MOC for PA depends on various factors, for NPA it is a fixed margin for all aircraft - 90m without FAF, 75m with FAF
- 50m obstacle clearance at the start of the final phase
Reversal/racetrack procedure speeds:
Outbound:
Cat A & B: 804ft/min no minimum
Cat C, D and E: 1 197ft/min no minimum
Inbound:
Cat A & B: 394ft/min and 655ft/min
Cat C, D and E: 590ft/min and 1 000ft/min
protection areas around an instrument procedure are based around the assumption that turns are performed at a bank angle of -
25 degrees, or 3 degrees/min whichever is lower, for approach, departure, missed approach and circling to land.
