Probable cause
Reasonable grounds to believe a person committed a crime or is committing an offense.
(Mere suspicion is not enough)

What side should you be on when taking fingerprints?

When do you apprehend?
When you have probable cause that the person has committed the offense
Contact with that suspect
Do not attempt to Apprehend Alone

Suspect should be seated in the right rear seat and properly restrained and in safety belt

Receipt to detained person must be turned into an E-7 or above
Problems with fingerprints
Too much ink will obliterate the ridges, an ink roller should be used to apply ink to the finger pate
Collecting DNA
DNA is mandated ( for all offenses) that constitutes a felony under the USC for which a sentence of confinement for more than 1 year may be imposed
