Local lesion (minor tweak) of muscle or tendon (strain)

Weak and painless muscle contraction

A

Rupture of muscle or its tendon or involvement of peripheral n. or n. root supplying it - neurological involvement or tendon rupture should be suspected first

A

Severe lesion around involved joint (i.e. fx) - weakness can be result of muscles around the joint secondary to pain (or severe strain)
