arm fracures Flashcards
A 19-year-old boy is brought into the emergency department after a collision during a university rugby game which caused him to land on an awkward position on his arm. He is unable to report how he exactly fell as the collision occurred so suddenly. He subsequently has an x-ray performed which reveals a transverse fracture of the radius 1.5cm proximal to the radio-carpal joint as well as posterior displacement of the distal fragment. Examination of the elbow joint reveals no significant signs.
collles
distal radius fracture with dorsal displacement of the most distal fragment.
colles
transverse fracture of the radius, 1 inch proximal to the radiocarpal joint, and dorsal displacement and angulation.
colles
intra-articular fracture at the base of the thumb metacarpal which commonly results from forced abduction of the first metacarpal.
bennets
radial shaft fracture associated with dislocation of the distal radioulnar joint
galezzi
bimalleolar ankle fracture that occurs when there is forced foot eversion.
potts
what is the median nerve injury associated with colles
median nerve injury: acute carpal tunnel syndrome presenting with weakness or loss of thumb or index finger flexion
