Q
Three points of critique
A
- First major assumption (about an item of evidence) is needed to justify the intermediate conclusion.
- A second major assumption (about an item of evidence) is also needed to justify the intermediate conclusion.
- If the intermediate conclusion is true, a third major assumption is still needed to justify the final conclusion.

Q
Four points of critique
A
- The threshold assumption is needed before addressing the argument’s main line of reasoning.
- If the threshold assumption is true, a first major assumption (about an item of evidence) is still needed to justify the argument’s conclusion.
- If the threshold assumption is true, a second major assumption (about an item of evidence) is still needed to justify the argument’s conclusion.
- Even if all of the foregoing assumptions are true, a third (and final) major assumption is still needed to justify the argument’s conclusion.

Q
Tips
A
- Arguments relying upon with thresholds, vague terms, or undefined - in the beginning of the argument
- Arguments relying upon assumptions that the recommended course of action is necessary or sufficient or both - in your final paragraph during which you grant all. other assumption for the sake of the argument.
- Other arguments suffer from problems with internal logic -in your final paragraph during which you grant all other assumption for the sake of the argument.
